2019 all wrapped up!

A moment to reflect as we look towards the New Year.

We've focused on building for our accounting firms

At Capitalise we’re never happier than when our customers see success with building out their funding service offering to clients. Our year started with thinking about how to create repeatedly this service line in accounting firms and we built around that with these three key features.

CREATING A FUNDING TEAM IN YOUR FIRM

We kicked off the new year by reflecting on the organisational structure we saw work when rolling out a funding team.

By focusing on selecting a champion and a funding team, we found that firms benefited from creating process and structure around Capitalise.

We released workflows to create teams and manage permissions. Assigning responsibility and reporting were significant parts of getting funding functioning as a service line.

 

SHARING OUR PLAYBOOK WITH OUR CUSTOMERS

Setting up the team wasn’t the only piece of the puzzle and so we brought together our learning of setting up teams and created a Playbook.

Our playbook has 30 plays, and firms that follow these plays experience over 50% more successful outcomes and 250% more success in rolling the service out to their clients and have trained 250 accountants UK wide.

 

SHAREABLE BUSINESS FINANCE GUIDES

We realise that sometimes having good content to share with your clients is an important part of getting interest in your new service line. 

We started with two client whitepapers, designed to be shared with your clients.

 

Exciting tools coming to identify clients who need your help

Building a service line can’t just be a skill; it’s also about the workflow inside your firm to take it to market. In 2019, we’ve created two tools which are both in beta. Our Capitalise.com Adviser app and Monitor, for portfolio analysis and health reports, are available to subscribed customers.

FOR ADVISERS ON THE GO

We realised that client conversations happen in all sorts of places - often on the move. We prioritised creating a mobile app for advisers to raise and track funding enquiries as well as view your clients' health report. This is part of our Partner and Pro plans.

ANALYSE AND MONITOR YOUR CLIENT PORTFOLIO

Turning your clients into prospects for your new service line sometimes needs a bit of help, so we created a portfolio analysis tool.

Our Funding Benchmark Score ranks businesses and the funding facility range they could reach.

 

We expanded products on the marketplace

Our financial marketplace sits at the heart of our product; we’ve been making that better too with improved workflows, Instant Offers and more secured lenders on the platform.

 

Fast is generally good when it comes to tech so we’ve been working hard to speed up offers for your clients. We launched Instant Offers which generates offers (you guessed it) instantly for enquiries under £25,000.

We’ve got three more lenders coming online shortly so stay tuned.

 

With 80% of the UK lending market secured against assets, we wanted to make sure we could properly support your clients. So we launched with Cambridge & Counties, Hampshire Trust Bank and Shawbrook.

 

Innovation and awards

INNOVATE UK

Capitalise received a grant from Innovate UK. We were the only accountancy technology provider to be issued a grant, using the funds to develop Capitalise Monitor, the credit and health report for businesses.

 

SOFTWARE PIONEER OF THE YEAR

Co-founder and VP of Product, Ollie Maitland, won Accounting Excellence's Software Pioneer of the Year. Accouting Web caught up with Ollie last month to reflect upon what this meant to him. 

 

NOMINATIONS

We were shortlisted for a number of awards and named in the Startups 100 and 101 FinTech Disrupters lists. 

 

What we achieved

We raised £3.5m to grow adviser-led financial marketplace and grew from 15 to 35 people - moving into our new office in Southwark. 

We've partnered with 1,600 accounting firms and reached a cumulative total of over £165 million of lending at the end of 2019. Our largest transaction was £5m and our fastest turnaround was in just one day.
