Capitalise Named as UK Top 101 Fintech Distrupters

Capitalise continues to revolutionise the accounting world with their SME funding platform.

Adriana Amato Sep 11, 2018

Capitalise has just been named in BusinessCloud’s top 101 Fintech Disruptors list. This comes hot off the back of recent recognition by Forbes as “one of 12 UK startups promising to revolutionise SME banking.”

Having just raised £250 million pounds the article, unshockingly, mentioned Fintech heavy weight Revolut along other big names such as Transferwise. Businesswise also made sure to mention companies working on revolutionary products in industries from insuretech to cryptocurrency.

In the UK there is a concerning void between the existence of alternative financial solutions and their availability to be accessed by the small business owner. The distribution of these innovative products is as strategically important as the development of the product itself.

Capitalise levers Open Banking and cloud accounting to address the concerning void between the existence of alternative financial solutions and their availability to be accessed by small business owners. The key to truly solving this problem, Capitalise notes, is by working with the SMEs accountant, which in turns builds the accountants a strong advisory service-line in their practice.

Fellow cloud accounting darlings, Fluidly and Receipt Bank, were also listed by BusinessCloud. It appears that the Accounting Excellence Awards, of which Capitalise is shortlisted, will be hotly contested this year.

Capitalises newest product Protect landed the London based startup in the final phase of Nestas Open Up Challenge, a £2.5m prize fund backing the next generation of financial technology to advance the future of small business banking. Protect is a hybrid finance and insurance product powered by Open Banking and is set to be released later in the year.

Capitalise kicks off its 2018 UK Roadshow in October exploring the Future of Fintech and its effect on accountants. What is the role of the accountant in a world where legacy banks are unable to deliver a full suite of best in class products across all verticals. This will be hosted alongside fellow fintechs Tide and Crowdcube.
